bobby's arrival was 11 weeks and 1 day early, he was born at barnet hospital by emergancy c/section because i had developed eclampsia, he was born on thursday the 29th of june at 10:46pm he weighed 1.42kg,he was initially placed on cpap because he was grunting a little bit,and then in the early hours of saturday 1st of july, our bobbys troubles began,he was struggling to breath and his o2 requirement had gone right up, doctors at this point realised his lung had collapsed, and bob had to be ventilated, he had a chest drain inserted aswell, he was very poorly.bob started to bleed into his brain and also into his lungs, he was in a very bad way docs have given him less then 5% chance off pulling through this, nothing short of a miricle is what they meant!but hey thats what our bobby was, cause he kept fighting despite his bleed progressing to a grade 4 bilateral ivh with severe pkl, he also had septicemia from a long line infection, all this at the same time, see what i mean miricle!! for weeks the doctors kept trying to get us to turn off his life support, saying it would be kinder to let him go, because if and it was a big if he survived his brain was so damaged he wouldnt be able to do anything, talk walk they said he would have no control over anything, wouldnt recognise us would never drink from a bottle suck a dummy, basically nothing at all, but he was our son we just wanted him to live, we'd deal with everything else as it came along, luckily his dad and i both felt the same when bob had had enough he would let go himself, and until then we'd be fighting with him every step of the way.
